One day, I was cooking bacon. I love bacon. I can't begin to describe how much I love bacon ... all nice and crispy, almost burned. Anyway, I decided that I needed to write a haiku about the bacon. I'm not sure why, and I had to look up the basic concept of a haiku. I still got it wrong. After posting it on my blog, someone pointed out that I couldn't even count seven syllables, only they said it very politely.
Since then I've been quite interested in writing haikus. The thing is, I can't stand poetry in general, but haikus are fascinating. So much perfection in so few lines. They're brilliant!
Me, I'm not so brilliant. I can't take myself too seriously, either, so my haikus may break some cardinal sin of haiku writing, I'm not sure.
That's why I call my blog "Haiku in the Loo." For my fellow Americans, "Loo" means toilet in them thar fancy overseas countries. So the title of my blog is more than just a really impressive rhyme. It's more than something that's super-fun to say. It also is indicative of my haiku writing abilities.
